7 Creative Strategies
ART 235 ::: Project 01
This project is to implement 7 different creative strategies. I chose a book and then created 7 different ways of showcasing this book. Below you will find the process of brainstorming, gathering assets, and then creating the final product. The strategies shown are: combination, juxtaposition, isolation, metaphor/simile, change of environment, material swap, and lastly shape/physical similarity.
Combination
This is taking two objects and combining them. I took a butterfly and a book, here is the final mockup of combination.
Title: A Story's Flight

Juxtaposition
Juxtaposition is showing contrast. I took a book, and paired it with the most opposite object I could think of: a TV. There is symbolism between the colors as you can see - the book makes it come to life. Here is the final mockup of Juxtaposition.
Title: The World's Replacement

Isolation
Isolation is separating the book from its natural element. I took a book, and paired it with an iPhone. Here is the final mockup of Isolation.
Title: Paperback Screen time

Metaphor/Simile
The metaphor I chose is a "Book is a Ticket", I feel this illustrates this. Here is the final mockup of a Metaphor.
Title: Ticket to Anywhere

Change of Environment
To take books and place them in a new environment, I created a staircase of books. Here is the final mockup of a change of environment.
Title: Literally a Literal Staircase

Material Swap
Changing the natural material of the book, I decided to use band-aids to create a book. There is a lot of meaning behind books healing. Here is the final mockup of a Material Swap.
Title: Reading is Healing

Shape/Physical Similarity
I took the shape of a fan and created this using books. Here is the final mockup of Shape/Physical Similarity.
Title: Fan of Fiction

Brainstorming Process
Below is a peak into my brainstorming process. I created sketches, had a written brainstorm session, experimented with visual assets, and gathered my assets.
